Removes the long-term trend from price so the shorter cycles stand out.
- How it is built
Price is compared with a moving average from about half a period back, which cancels the trend.
Default: Length 21, not centered.
- How traders read it
- Peaks and troughs show the length of cycles.
- Above zero: price is above its shifted average.
- Not meant to give signals about the current trend.
